Lisa Johnson, a young wife and mother of two, truly understood the power of love and what a word of encouragement can do in a person’s life. She was that girl who walked into the room and with her smile, the room lit up. It did not matter that she was fighting the battle of her life she remained joyful, loving, strong and positive through it all. She chose love over hatred, joy over sadness, peace over chaos and modeled this to her children.

As a teacher, Lisa carried this into the classroom as well. She thoroughly enjoyed being a teacher putting her students' well-being first and foremost. Using her humor and vast knowledge of how students learn, she was able to engage and empower them to succeed. She earned the award of “Teacher of the Year” for the 2019-2020 school year.

Here are a couple of quotes from her students:

“She was one of those teachers who really cared.”

“She taught us the importance of kindness.”

“She taught us to be strong and positive.”

“Mrs. Johnson was always happy and had a smile on her face and she taught us to look on the bright side of things.”

Help us honor Lisa’s memory by building a library worthy of the children at this school. We will be working with the librarian from the middle school where Lisa taught to make sure that the books and resources provide the children with the essentials for a well-rounded and comprehensive education. Contributions to the library specifically can be designated on the memo line of donations.
